Farmhouse Kinder is dedicated to providing an exceptional service to families in Wyndham City Shire. To apply for free kindergarten, applicants need to read and understand the information outlined in the application policy. Note that an application does not confirm a place for commencement.

Booking Fee

A non-refundable fee of $20 is required to be paid upon completion of the application form which covers administration costs.
The booking charge is not a guarantee of a place at the service.
This is not intended to be a barrier to participation. Families experiencing financial hardship should discuss any issues with the Service Leader.

Closing Date

Application forms must be submitted before the end of Term 2.
Applications received by the closing date will be processed in accordance with the applications policy/priority of access.
Applications received after the closing date will be considered as late registrations and will be processed in a first in first served basis.

Letters of offer

Offers will be sent to your registered email address via our enrolment system by the beginning of Term 3, in the year prior to enrolment commencement.
Families accepting a position by the due date are assured a place in accordance with their acceptance return date.
While a choice of session must be indicated, every consideration will be given to the preferences of parents but where demand exceeds supply, children will be placed in a session according to when the acceptance was received.
Failure to complete the acceptance of an offer and pay the administration fee by the due date will automatically mean you have declined the position and this will result in the offer being made to the next application on the waiting list.

When to start kindergarten

Use the Starting Age Calculator link to enter your child’s birth date to find out what year they can start Three and Four-Year-Old Kindergarten.

The Victorian Government states that children are eligible for one funded year of three-year-old Kindergarten and one funded year of four-year-old Kindergarten (unless they meet the eligibility criteria for a second year of four-year-old Kindergarten)

Applications Policy and Acceptance Criteria

Farmhouse Kinder will give priority of placement to:

Children at risk of abuse or neglect, including children in Out-of-Home Care
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children
Asylum seeker and refugee childrenres Strait Islander children
Children eligible for the Kindergarten Fee Subsidy
Children with additional needs, defined as children who require additional assistance
Second year funded children attending their first year of kindergarten at Farmhouse or if they have relocated to Wyndham City Shire from outside the area
Siblings of past Farmhouse Kinder pupils
